The Info You’re After

What is the ECS (Endocannabinoid System)?

Humans have an Endocannabinoid System or ECS, the role is to keep our bodies regulated, helping us to maintain balance or homeostasis.  The ECS is involved in regulating processes including: pain, stress, appetite, energy, cardiovascular function, reward perception, reproduction, and sleep. The human ECS has three main components which are cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and the enzymes that break them down.  This system is present throughout the entire body. The body has CB1 and CB2 receptors.  CB1 receptors affect motor and cognitive functioning and are largely found in the central nervous system.  CB2 receptors play a more critical role in neuroprotection and neuroinflammation, these receptors are most commonly found on immune cells, which circulate throughout the body and brain via the bloodstream.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in the hemp plant.  It is extracted from industrial hemp.  There are many studies being conducted presently to better understand how CBD interacts with our body.  Researchers and regulators are studying the effects of CBD to better determine its efficacy and safety.

Full Spectrum Products

A full spectrum CBD product contains multiple hemp plant extracts including essential oils, terpenes, and other cannabinoids.  Full spectrum CBD products may also contain up to the 0.3% THC.

What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are basically the essential oils of plants.  Terpenes are extracted from everyday plants and fruits like pine and citrus.  Terpenes are also extracted from hemp plants and are the organic compounds that provide aroma and flavor as well as interact with the cannabinoids.
